New exciting information!A recent update from Michael Dimartino Tumblr posting "More Korra excitment! Some more sneak peeks of book 2 characters. Desna, Eska, and Varrick."
First up, Desna (left) and Eska (right) , Korra’s cousins:
DESNA (Waterbender), ESKA (Waterbender)
Korra’s cousins are sixteen year-old twins who have a strange connection and seem to communicate without saying a word. They’re both Waterbenders, and when they work together they can accomplish amazing feats, such as shooting entire icebergs at opponents. Korra has always found them incredibly annoying because they look down on her for being a rube from the South, even though she’s the Avatar.
Next up, shipping magnate and facial hair enthusiast Varrick, presumably not to be confused with the Dragon Age character of the same name:
Billionaire shipping magnate from the Southern Water Tribe. He’s a little eccentric, but very charismatic. He sp

ALL DESCRIPTIONS WERE TAKEN FROM NICK'S SITE
I know this dude is the first Avatar ever, named Wan, this is just the description that the Nick site put to the image
Perhaps this nomadic rogue might tag along with our favorite team soon, but whether he's good or bad is too early to say...
This mystical creature has a lot of limbs to go around, but it looks like he'll have a much deeper role to play...
The Avatar world is filled with awesome animal hybrids, just like this one. Could he be a new sidekick?
This looks like the perfect spot to meditate on the best bending techniques!
In the Avatar world, beautiful scenery can be found at every turn.
This is the perfect spot for the Avatar to overlook the city, and make sure both Benders and non-Benders are living
Meet Wan, the first AvatarFans of The Walking Dead and Legend of Korra rejoice: Steven Yeun, known to fans of the AMC horror show as Glenn, will be joining the voice cast of the Nickelodeon animated series as Wan, the very first Avatar in existence. Yeun’s character will appear in two episodes titled “Beginnings 1 & 2″ during the second season — aka Book 2: Spirits — debuting later this year.
The sequel to the beloved Avatar: The Last Airbender, Legend of Korra debuted last April to 4.5 million viewers, and quickly became the highest-rated show on Nickelodeon. Both series are set in a fictional world where people called “benders” have special abilities that allow them to control one of the four elements (water, earth, air, and fire), but only one person — the Avatar — can control all four and bring balance to the world.
Wan’s story will take place ten thousand years before Korra’s time, and follow the teenage explorer and skilled bender as he tri

A look at Mako and Bolin's pastA new Legend of Korra-related webseries has been released by Nickelodeon, giving viewers a glimpse at Mako and Bolin’s hard-luck childhood.
A new short webseries called Republic City Hustle debuted today on Nickeldeon.com. Republic City Hustle serves as a small prequel to The Legend of Korra, focusing on the characters of Mako and Bolin as young orphans trying to survive in Republic City.
The beautiful paper-cut animation style of Republic City Hustle is very distinct from The Legend of Korra‘s visual identity. However, the consistent character design and voice work by Korra‘s David Faustino (Mako) and PJ Byrne (Bolin) – as well as the use of music from season 1 – help Republic City Hustle remain perfectly in tone with the Avatar universe.
Republic City Hustle will be told in three parts, and will continue next week (August 16). Check out the first installment right here:
"The Rift": continuation of The SearchWell well, so it seems the long awaited "the search" storyline, which is family focused on personal issues within the Fire Nation royal family will come to an end and a brand new story was announced.
"The Rift" will deal with The Gaang and how Republic City was formed, and luckily for the fans of Toph Beifong [including me] she will be back, after being absent on "the search".
According to Gene Luen Yang, "What happened to me is that as I watched the show, Zuko was my favorite character, but now that I'm writing it, it's Toph. I mean, I liked Toph before, but now I love Toph," hinting that her role on "the rift" will be much more important than what her role was on his previous works.
And by bigger role, do you think that the question "Who the heck is Lin's father?" will be answered? or at least give us some hints of who the man is?
The continuation, announced to debut on March 5, 2014 will deal with all that.
It's too early for assuming anything, but soon on S
FRIDAYS AT 8:30PM & 12 Episode TitlesThe premieres are doing well against overall cable, but that earlier time slot is pretty much a ratings graveyard so the numbers are down compared to Book 1. I never worry about this stuff too much, but obviously the network needs to. (I’m not sure why they moved it from Saturday mornings in the first place, where it was doing quite well, but there is usually some larger plan in place.)
Whatever the case, the episodes are still flying off the virtual shelves on iTunes and watched a lot on Nick.com. They always seem to find people eventually, which is what matters most to me (hopefully they’ll patch things up with Netflix or find some comparable digital streaming outlet soon). But I would hate for people to get confused and frustrated this Friday night if they don’t know about the change, so I’m trying to help get the word out. Thanks!

I know it does nothing to abate your frustrations over the delay to hear this, but we are very eager to share Book 2 with you. It is coming. Like winter. Except it won’t last as long as a Westeros winter."

Korra is back on this week, kicking off the month-long homestretch of Book 2. And what would Book 2 be without another new time? All of the remaining airings of Korra will start at 8pm/7c until Book 2 is over. Here’s the breakdown:
Friday, Nov. 1, 8:00pm – Episode 9
Friday, Nov. 8, 8:00pm – Episode 10
Friday, Nov. 15, 8:00pm – Episodes 11 & 12 (one hour!)
Friday, Nov. 22, 8:00pm – Episodes 13 & 14 (one hour finale!)
So you can see with those two one-hours, it made more sense to start at 8:00, and to just air the rest all at the same start time.
Hard to believe it is almost over. These episodes, especially the last four, pack a serious wallop, so those are going to be two incredibly dense, juicy one-hours. It has been a long, hard road to get these episodes finished. In fact, we’re still finishing the last one! It

Vanellope FAQ + Facebook Kiriban PrizeSince I have a lot of questions about Vanellope, here's a little Q&A for you guys!
Q: Where did you buy the skirt/leggings/hoodie?
A: I made everything myself from scratch. I didn't buy anything except the boots.
Q: Would you suggest a blue-green or a light green for the hoodie?
A: LIGHT GREEN. Most Vanellope cosplays I've seen haven't looked screen-accurate because they're too blue! Her color palette constantly changes with the lighting in the movie and it's better to go with a light green because no matter where she is, her hoodie *never* looks blue. That mint green is super hard to find so it's better to play it safe and do a light green.
Q: How did you make the skirt?
A: I made the skirt out of corduroy. Looking at the high res pictures of Vanellope, her skirt is two cupcake holders turned upside-down and stacked on top of each other. To create this illusion with fabric, you need to do pleats--two layers of pleats. Depending on how big you make your pleats and how much they fold
Quality Prose Contest (JIP)The judging for this is currently in process, thank you for all the great submissions!
Another day and another contest at #Written-Imagination's week long birthday celebrations. This time our contest is looking for the quality construction of descriptive prose, not matter how flowery it happens to be (so long as we know what you're talking about and it conforms to rules). This means you show things that are happening to the audience with imagery, metaphor, simile, symbolism and all the other elements of figurative language.
You don't tell them by saying "it was sad" - you show them by saying "Tears spilled down her pale cheeks as the coffin descended into the freshly dug earth below." We want descriptive language to up our eyeballs and straining our brains!
So here are the rules for the contest:
It can be no more than

What is a Six Word Story? This blog hopes to address the issue of the definition of a Six Word Story. With thanks to our Contributors Bakape, deviantshrimp, Exillior, Iluvocnj2006, MaddyJordan, neurotype, SilverInkblot, StellaSalvata, TwilightPoetess, Zophirus, we have managed to conduct a sort of mini-guide on what a six word story should and should not do. We would greatly appreciate your own thoughts and opinions, so if you do have any at all, please do not hesitate to say so in a reply to this blog!
A Six Word Story Should:
Tell a Story
The story does not necessarily need to have a beginning, middle and end. There should be a storyline/plot element in the story which allows freedom of imagination. Time is a vital element in a story. Stories do not need to make sense, although there should be an understanding as to what the writer is trying to portray. Tells a Story
An Easter GreetingHello, Killjoys. As Dracushit, the Draculoid designated to monitor this group, I’ve been ordered to pass along this message from Better Living Industries:
Good day, Killjoys. A joyful Easter to all of you. When you sit down to your dinners of canned ham, pasta noodles, Power Pup, and disease-infested ground water, know that Battery City is thinking of you. We’ve made several improvements to BL/indNet, including opening a public forum which is already lively with discussion:

“IF BEING GAY ISNT A CHOICE THEN WHY DOES POISON /CHOOSE/ TO BANG OTHER MEN”
“wtf no one told me poison was gay, ugh my life is over man”
“URGENT: Can you roll power pup in a joint and smoke it”
“guys whats the name of the fic where korse uses ghouls spit as hair remover????”
“Ok I don’t get why random killjoys cant just walk into the diner and say
